Gabions are categorized in two types: 

Welded Gabions: Welded Gabion is a welded wire cage or box filled with materials such as stone, concrete, sand, or soil. These are manufactured from cold drawn steel wire. Later, they are and electronically welded together. Gabions are hot dip galvanised or alu-zinc coated, PA6 coated & polimac coated, thereby ensuring a longer life.

Woven Gabions: Woven gabions are made of double twisted hexagonal mesh fabric. This steel mesh fabric possesses high mechanical strength, and double twist weaving of wire prevents unraveling.
